Money Matters

Making your money work harder

  • Got an Individual Savings Account or two? Pension Plan? Shares?
  • Know how they’re doing?
  • Definitely the best place to have your money?
  • No room for improvement?
  • Are you sure?

Our Investment Portfolio Management Service proactively manages and reviews your investments. Big or small, simple or complex, we can improve your portfolio and make your money work harder. We proactively manage your assets, making changes where necessary and keeping you informed every step of the way. Never again will you wonder where your money is or how it is performing.

I don’t have a ‘portfolio’

If you have an Individual Savings Account or two, a pension, some shares, an investment property or pretty much any other investment, then you have a ‘portfolio’. Good investment advice is most definitely not the preserve of the wealthy.

What does FPP do then?

We implement a step-by-step process:

  1. Implement your financial plan – we create the correct structure for your investments to achieve your financial goals
  2. Recommend the correct asset allocation – based on your attitude to risk, which we assess through a questionnaire, we work out where your money should be invested
  3. Monitor your attitude to risk – your attitude to risk might change, for example if you need to start taking an income from your investments
  4. Monitor asset allocation – taking into account economic factors we keep an eye on where your money is and, if necessary, switch it to a better place (with your permission of course!)
  5. Re-balance – this is where we take profits from assets that have done well and balance your portfolio by distributing them to other assets that have performed less well
  6. Choose and monitor funds - we choose funds using a specific methodology based on factual evidence. We monitor those funds on a monthly basis looking at criteria such as performance, volatility and change of fund manager.
  7. Use all this information to recommend switches – we contact you if, as a result of all our research we think switching funds would be appropriate
  8. Report back to you every six months – twice a year we will send you a newsletter which breaks down the performance of your fund into plain English
  9. Online access – you can access your portfolio at any time via the internet so you can see where it is invested and how it is performing

How much does it cost?

The cost of setting up the service is between 1% and 3% of the value of the investments moved to our portfolio management service. This fee comes out of the investments direct – not your bank account.

The running cost is usually 0.125% to 0.25% per quarter, or 1% per year, inclusive of most switching. Some switching can involve a cost which we will quantify to you at the same time as we send you our switching recommendations. The Financial Planning Partnership does not charge any additional fees for switching –any switching costs will always be provider costs.

Most of our ongoing portfolio management fees are not treated as a commission, but as a fee. This makes us accountable to you because when we set up our Investment Portfolio Management Service, you will have signed an authority to the provider authorising them to pay us our fees. If for whatever reason you become unhappy with what we are doing for you, you simply contact the provider direct and ask them to stop paying us. In effect you can sack us if you’re not happy.

If you wish to discuss the above further or require information on any of our services, then please contact us.
